What is organic worth?

Le BIO ça vaut quoi ?

Natural and organic care products are flooding the cosmetic market. Manufacturers, pharmacies and supermarkets are getting involved in CLEAN beauty by offering products at all prices.

Whether it’s a fad or real health benefits, we want you to know the difference between the two.
Today, Sodina Cosmetics answers all your prejudices!

Should we only trust labeled brands?

INTOX. Each label develops its own cosmetic charter with its own requirements. The French Cosmébio label awarded by Ecocert is a good guarantee but it essentially guarantees the ecological aspect of the products (recyclable products and packaging, mainly natural organic raw materials, etc.). It does not guarantee products that are better for the health of the skin even if the natural-organic formulation is based on the principle that a natural active ingredient would have a better affinity with the skin than a synthetic product. Standard organic cosmetic products are mainly composed of ingredients that act on the texture of the treatment rather than the active ingredient itself.

Organic, Vegan and Cruelty free… What exactly is it?

Today, hygiene and makeup products are becoming more and more respectful of our skin, the environment and animal welfare. We are talking about vegan, natural, organic or even cruelty-free cosmetics.
Organic Cosmetics: products formulated with more or less ingredients from organic farming. Here again, the reality of the market is not very glorious... Can we decently consider that a product is organic when it only contains 5, 10, 15% of ingredients that are actually from organic farming.
Natural Cosmetics: products formulated with more or less ingredients of natural origin. As with organic cosmetics, it is important to be wary of this label since many products display the label "natural" even though the ingredients of natural origin are present in tiny quantities.
Cruelty free cosmetics: ingredients and finished products not tested on animals. In French, the term "cruelty free" translates to "without cruelty" and indicates that no animal testing was carried out during the development of a product.

Vegan Cosmetics: beauty products without animal-derived materials. It is important to clarify that, in reality, cosmetic brands put the term on their products as long as they do not contain animal-derived materials, but this does not mean that the product is not tested on animals or made with organic or natural ingredients. It has become common to see industrial brands display the term "vegan" on products even though we know that these groups use animal testing.

Are natural cosmetics more expensive than conventional cosmetics?

Natural and organic cosmetics are not necessarily more expensive than conventional cosmetics. In chemical cosmetics, the formulation and ingredients that make up your care represent less than 10% of the final cost. In addition, their production in quantity reduces the costs of the latter. Thus, the bottle, packaging, labels and advertising campaigns inflate the price of your care.
The formulation of natural care is more expensive but the other marketing costs are lower. Sodina Cosmetics, our eco-responsible Swiss brand, collaborates with local laboratories and artisans and this commitment has a cost. Our mission is to make ORGANIC accessible to all, so the margins are much lower than in chemical cosmetics.

How do I choose my organic treatments?

“If you are looking for organic and effective care, ask yourself about the concentration of active ingredients and favor demanding labels! Sodina Cosmetics uses little or no water in its care to guarantee you beauty results.
